HOWEVER you might have come upon this space … croeso, welcome, to the Wight Druids blog, where we aim to keep you updated – well, from time to time, anyway – on what is happening with Celli Ynys Weith, the Isle of Wight Grove, a small ad hoc bunch of Druids and sympathisers on this little Island just off the south coast of Britain.
We aim to post here – time, space and Fair Folk permitting – brief reports of our open public rites on the Island, a few random thoughts about the Druid path we walk here and some of the more urgent or time-sensitive stuff that might be easier to put up in this way than to hard-code into the website proper (www.wightdruids.co.uk).
You guessed it: We’re getting lazy in our old age.
It might be fun to start with a quick resume of the, as it turned out, somewhat strange rite for Beltane 2007 at The Longstone, Mottistone, Isle of Wight, which was preceded by a sterling performance by the Men of Wight morris side, a couple of whom stayed on for a while afterwards (rather bemused, perhaps) trying to work out what was going on. Or maybe they were just finishing their beer?
Anyway, that will have to wait for a while – perhaps forever? – at least until this crusty old scribe has figured how a blog actually works (at first, I thought it was just a place to deposit your ritual human sacrifice. Ed’s note: No, that’s a ‘BOG’ – no ‘L’)
Whatever, many thanks for reading yourself in. You have passed the first part of the initiation. The second is, of course, performed skyclad and is entirely unsuitable for a PG-rated blog audience. Drop us an email from the website for the full gory details with your name, address, postcode and, err, blood group.
You’re welcome to return here when I’ve calmed down (sigh!) and figured out which of these jolly buttons to press next. So many … so shiny … mmm …
Until then …
